Grades 5-6 Social Studies builds on the foundational knowledge of civics/government, economics, geography, and history, gained in Grades K-4. The course strands, content standards, and the student learning expectations (SLEs) are meant to be taught in an integrated manner, not in isolation. SOCIAL STUDIES NOTE: The Social Studies subject standards were last revised in 2012. These standards contain references to the Common Core Social Studies reading and writing literacy skills. In 2014, House Bill 3399 repealed Common Core standards for Oklahoma. By operation of law, the references to Common Core unique to the social studies disciplines.
